Excessive rust on my (2015 Renegade with 28000mls on the clock) steering knuckle or normal for salty winter roads?

Top pic is my steering knuckle showing the ball joint. I've noticed what seems to be a small hole forming or is it an imperfection in the casting?

I've taken a screenshot of a steering knuckle that was on sale on the net which also appears to have an imperfection around the same spot.

Is this normal or something I should be worried about?

At 2800 miles? Were those 2800 miles all driven in the ocean? Jeez.

As for the pics, I can't tell if that it a hole on yours, but on the one from the web, it's a shadow from the square bit that pokes out.

Sorry 28000mls😁 @raz-0 You got me thinking about the shadow on the screenshot. Couldn't be bothered taking the wheels off again as I don't really have a very good surface for jacking (loose chippings) I squeezed under the jeep again with a small wire brush and gave both sides at the ball joints a bit of a clean.

Done a short video of both sides and it's pretty clear that it was a bit of loose rust causing a shadow😁

Will have to order some more Kurust and a bottle of Liqui Moly 1538 Rubber Treatment for the bushes and spend a day or so properly removing the rust.

I think it looks worse than it actually is.
