I'll hack the thing before doing this, hopefully.

Interesting, though I agree risky. Unfortunately, the Renegade isn't among the vehicles offered...

there's one out there somewhere and kinda suspect not 100% model specific. the bit that gets flipped when ya push the button is likely in the DTC. the widget basically monitors that bit, saves the current state, restores it at start up. too simple to be dangerous or expensive.

Mine deactivated until reactivated.
But I think the more recent ones all turn it back on.
Not really an issue with the PHEV any more.

It was the same with the RangeRover. I just got used to pressing the button. Like I now have to do with the damn Lane Assist on the Compass.

Really...? That's interesting, because when I disable Lane Assist on my 2021 U.S.-market Trailhawk, it stays disabled even for future driving cycles.

I really tried to live with lane assist being enabled in some way, but it was way too annoying. Automatically having it nudge the steering wheel back just drove me crazy. And even just the visual alert was annoying.

And no, I'm not weaving back and forth across lanes... ;)

New Lane Assist is extremely intrusive. It grabs the wheel at every opportunity. And resets to on/most aggressive intervention setting every time you press Start.

She needs the new Level II autonomous version: Steers you between the lines. I did not pay the extra €250 for that particular option.

Yes, the steering-wheel jerking is extremely intrusive. And I just checked; it's LaneSense, not Lane Assist.

There are sensitivity settings through the Uconnect 4C NAV on my U.S.-version 2021 Trailhawk; or the entire LaneSense nonsense can be disabled (permanently) by pressing the button at the red arrow -- amber indicator light shows that it's disabled:

Owner's Manual: "The LaneSense system will retain the last system state on or off from the last ignition cycle when the ignition is changed to the ON/ RUN position."

I just wish my U.S.-market Auto Stop/Start could be similarly permanently disabled...

There's another safety feature that I'm really on the fence about... The Blind Spot Alert. That gives a really annoying sound when I use a turn signal, and there's a car in the blind spot on that side. And, the way I've got it set above, a small amber light in my outside mirror.

I don't mind the light; it's the sound that can be extremely annoying. Mainly because it sounds even when I'm in a two-lane turn lane. I can't remember offhand -- they've got those in Europe, right?

So if I'm the vehicle at the yellow arrow, stopped at the traffic light there with my left-side turn signal on and a car in the other turn lane on my left, I'd be fine as long as the traffic light was red. But as soon as the light turns green and we start moving, the Blind Spot Alert will sound and scare the bejeezus out of me -- even though I'm staying in my turn lane.

I could change the Blind Spot alert to Lights only -- but then I wouldn't have the sound alert when I really need it... When changing lanes when I don't happen to see a car in my blind spot, which does happen occasionally. Particularly here in the U.S., where it's legal to pass/overtake on the right; and a lot of idiots think nothing of doing that at high speed...

On the new UConnect, in the 2022 Compass, this gets reactivated and all settings switch back to default/most aggressive ones each time you start the car.

AND you have to press the button twice to deactivate it.
