Not being able to permanently override it, right? I hear ya...really really hate not being able to over ride it.

Interesting, though I agree risky. Unfortunately, the Renegade isn't among the vehicles offered...I'll hack the thing before doing this, hopefully.

Jeep Auto Start-Stop Disable
The Autostop Eliminator is designed to safely disable the start-stop feature on your Jeep. Plug it in & it’s ready to work. Disable your Jeep’s auto stop todaywww.autostopeliminator.com
There is a button to turn it off.I really wish the auto stop on ours would stop working. Really hate the feature, really really hate not being able to over ride it. Apparently not enough to buy the OBDC widget but not my car.
On the US models it defaults to on at each key on cycle, so it needs to be switched off manually. I think people are trying to avoid the need to continually turn it off. There is a button to turn it off.
I know that in some regions the last setting is remembered through key cycles.Exactly - do the euro / world versions not do that??
Really...? That's interesting, because when I disable Lane Assist on my 2021 U.S.-market Trailhawk, it stays disabled even for future driving cycles.I just got used to pressing the button. Like I now have to do with the damn Lane Assist on the Compass.
Ahh that makes sense. Whereas the UK model stays OFF until manually reactuated. On the US models it defaults to on at each key on cycle, so it needs to be switched off manually. I think people are trying to avoid the need to continually turn it off.
Yes, the steering-wheel jerking is extremely intrusive. And I just checked; it's LaneSense, not Lane Assist.New Lane Assist is extremely intrusive. It grabs the wheel at every opportunity. And resets to on/most aggressive intervention setting every time you press Start.
On the new UConnect, in the 2022 Compass, this gets reactivated and all settings switch back to default/most aggressive ones each time you start the car. There are sensitivity settings through the Uconnect 4C NAV on my U.S.-version 2021 Trailhawk; or the entire LaneSense nonsense can be disabled (permanently) by pressing the button at the red arrow -- amber indicator light shows that it's disabled:
