Sorry in advance for the long post. My 2015 Renny is just under 75,000 miles. 3 weeks ago I noticed the service air bag message appeared on and off. After a few days the service power steering message appeared causing loss of power steering which is crazy and scary to experience while driving. I prayed to God to get me to the dealership safely to look into the issue. I also had the seatbelt alert going off while wearing my seatbelt. Since I didn’t have an appointment it took a week for them to diagnose. The dealership diagnosed it as a bad BCM and I approved the repair. Leave the dealership after the repair not even 10 minutes of driving the same issue occurs. This time losing power to the radio and windows. Blessed myself again to get back to the dealership safely. So we are on week 3 of no car. (Mind you I’m traumatized from an experience 2 years ago of not having a car for 3 months that resulted in several repairs and needing a new engine. The culprit metal shavings in the oil. Which I feel was caused by the dealership from a routine oil change since all the problems happened after that visit). The advisor stated the tech not being able to get the power steering and air bag issue to appear and is working with a Chrysler tech. Now I’m being asked to bring in my spare key for their continued tests.

Anyone have a similar situation or a successful diagnosis? I’m so tired of ditching more $$$$ for repairs that fail. Also does anyone have any tips on dealing with the dealership about arguing with cost for repairs after already paying for the initial repair based off the their initial diagnosis. In desperate need of suggestions/recommendations. I’m so disappointed with Jeep service departments that this will most likely be my last Jeep.

Had a very similar experience. My service air bag alert was going on an off. Then my power steering also stopped working, and my check engine light came on. Then I had problems shutting off the engine. Same thing. This happened last fall, and was due to a low battery. The new battery fixed everything, but then the issue came back a month or so ago. I took it to an independent garage near me with an impeccable reputation. The manager did a lot of research, and determine it was likely the ignition switch. he sent me the following link:

The shop replaced the ignition switch, and all of the issues went away, and my jeep has been problem free since.
Thanks for your reply. I’ve seen other posts where it’s said the ignition switch was the culprit as well. I just got my car back from the dealership on Saturday who first tried to say I needed a new key based on their testing. I had a spare key I never used. Dropped the spare key to the dealership who drove the car for 30 miles to test. They said the issue with the air bag and power steering didn’t happen for them. Fingers crossed I don’t run into any issues tomorrow.
