I just wanted to say thank you to the long time forum posters for helping me out. I had a question and was promptly answered and made to feel welcome on this site.

I'm not an owner of a Renegade, still on the fence. I really like what I've seen of the vehicle, but the negatives I've read on here fill me with a little apprehension. I suppose that's what an extended warranty is for though.

Anyway, thank you all for being kind and helpful.

The quirks will be worked out. Buy the vehicle that you love and all will be good (hopefully the warranty will make any quirks sail through). I didn't worry about them much. It seems that most things are programming issues that are easily taken care of with computers, not bad parts. Welcome to the forum! This is a cool vehicle!!!

Thank you Norm and Trish, and Clee. I definitely want to get a Renegade. I just hate waiting. I'm in Kentucky until August. I don't get much time off, so I haven't been able to actually sit in one or test drive, but I've read up on them quite a bit and my wife even likes the Renegade. Are they comfortable? I have a messed up lower back and good back support is a must. Also, what's your stance on leather vs cloth interior? Is the leather that much nicer on the Renegade? Thanks for your time.

I wasn't a big fan of spending $750 for the leather although I am not opposed to it. Just not worth the money to me personally. Also if you get the popular equipment group package and choose cloth you get:

  • 40 / 20 / 40 Rear Seat with Trunk Pass-Thru
  • 9 Amplified Speakers with Subwoofer
  • A/C Auto Temperature Control with Dual Zone Control
  • Power 4-Way Driver Lumbar Adjust
  • Power 8-Way Driver Seat and Manual 4-Way Pass Seat

This is what I chose along with the 6.5 Uconnect and electric MySky. Unfortunately mine is still in the build process so I have no idea how I like the total package. I have however driven another non TH with about the same options and loved it.

I purchased my Trailhawk in April and have had no problems whatsoever (2,200 miles). Sad that some on here have had problems, but many more have not had problems with their Renegades.

I prefer cloth over leather and won't buy a car with leather seats. I find my cloth seats very comfortable. The driver's seat has a multitude of adjustments. You'll have to sit in one and see if the seat can be adjusted to accommodate your back.

Echoing the sentiments..great, welcoming crowd on this forum. And great advice Clee. Seems like any Rene issues can be easily remedied under warranty, and nothing that would prevent me from getting one. As a 43 yr old father of two kids still in booster seats, I need something that works well as a family vehicle, can handle snow, and will still give me some joy when I'm at the end of a long day, at a price I can afford. Toughest part now is the wait for my sky inventory to roll into my area, but it also gives me a few months to squirrel away a little cash to bring to the table. Thanks again for all the great posts.

Here's my tip....I have 2 dogs and cloth seats, all you need is a spray bottle of water and rubber gloves, wipe with the gloves and viola! hair comes up !
Hair part I agree with, but to me cloth seats are like carpet on the floor.... they absorb everything & almost impossible to get clean (deep down where all the nasty stuff soaks in). All that dog drool + spills = yucky germs. Must be the nurse in me! lol

Dog drool is what I deal with as well - the hair doesn't bother me anymore, I have three long haired cats and a Labrador retriever. My whole house is full of hair.

Dog drool and all the other wet nasties that seep into cloth (kids juice boxes is another popular item) - that stuff is a pain to get out of seats.

You guys with preference to cloth must have no kids or pets ;). . .
I have kids, but they're grown now. I have no issues with the grandchildren. It's only a car after all. And I had cars with leather seats many years ago and hated the leather.

Trust me, you would not want to ride in any car my dog has drooled all over. That stench permeates the whole interior if it gets in the seats!

I actually did want leather and had found one during my intensive searching when I was looking for my TH. When I went to check it out they told me it had just sold. Since I was already holding out for (and kept missing out on) the color I wanted I didn't want to add another requirement to my list. So I took the cloth. I'm really happy with it though. The leather was definitely great too- I sat in a couple that had it, felt nice. I would have been happy either way though, basically.

Thank you everyone for the input. I asked for the cloth seats. Amazing, I submitted the USAA car buying request and I have been getting bombarded with phone calls and emails. Really sucks though, since it kept waking me up. I've been working grave yards and I didn't need my phone to keep ringing all day. A service manager actually is trying to work with me. Sounds like I'll probably be ordering the Jeep, but that works well since by the time I get back to Vegas, the car should be there in a week or two after. I'm going for an Anvil colored Trailhawk with the MySky panels, the 6.5 NAV/Radio, safety and security package, and cold weather package.
