The Jeep Renegade is a perfect example of what the Fiat-Chrysler merger has made possible. The Renegade is the first Jeep vehicle to be built in Italy. This is something that never would have happened without the Fiat-Chrysler merger. On top of that, the Renegade uses the same platform as the Fiat 500X, a crossover version of its popular Fiat 500 city car.

Management professor Robert Verganti of Milan Polytechnic explains, "The Renegade and 500X are perfect examples of something Fiat and Chrysler couldn't have done" before their merger. They are exploiting Fiat expertise in small cars to timely launch a jeep model in a segment that's actually booming."

Indeed, the only question now is if the influence of Fiat has diminished the Jeep brand. People, including those of this on this forum, are asking themselves, "Is the Jeep Renegade a real Jeep?" In my opinion, Fiat influenced the design of the Renegade just the right amount. You can see some Fiat in there, but it still looks like a Jeep, and like every other Jeep it has real off-road capabilities to back up its looks.

I wonder what other opportunities have been created through the merger of Fiat and Chrysler.
