In my neck of the woods the "Jeep Wave" just doesn't exist. Wranglers, JGC, it doesn't seem to matter. I've given up. :(

why, you think they wont?
My understanding (this is my first Jeep) is that the wave has always been a thing among Wrangler owners, specifically among Jeep enthusiasts really.

I anticipate the Renegade will be owned by many people who view their vehicle as simply transportation, and won't be "in the know" regarding the wave. That's just my hypothesis. I would be pleasantly surprised to find that I'm wrong, and feel a sense of community out there on the road in the Renegade.

That's too bad.

same

the only time i've seen anyone wave to me is when im with my buddy in his wrangler

it seems like wranglers are more loyal to the waves than others.

unfortunately i dont think very many renegade owners will know about the wave.

I have rarely gotten a response in the Liberty from any other Jeep model drivers. I think it is a Wrangler to Wrangler thing.
I would never expect a response from a Liberty driver, just not the type of jeep for it to happen on, it's the mainstream jeep that just about anyone buys but to buy a Wrangler, you're just not anyone, you LOVE jeep.

Jeep Wave

Hey for S's and G's, as a Wrangler Owner(TJ - more $ in it then the retail of it) I bought the Renny for my wife who loves my wrangler and more especially, loves waving to all the other Wranglers(its the Jeep thing). I think since the Renny is a down played version of the Wrangler, the Jeep wave should extend its self to the the smaller version.

Just my two cents

I will most certainly be waving at any and all Renegades that I see.

I wave at all Jeeps from my 99 XJ but rarely get any in return. Seems like 3 out of every 5 vehicles on the road are Jeeps here on Long Island and nobody bothers anymore :(

Other old Heeps and built up off-roaders tend to respond.

Jeep Wave

As a first time Jeep owner I do like my new Renegade. With the purchase of a new vehicle one notices more of the same make on the road. I pass approaching Jeeps more and more often since my purchase. Is the Renegade the red-headed step-child of the Jeep family or are Jeep people just unfriendly? I throw my hand up to all approaching Jeeps and in the last two months and 3200 miles I've received only a handful of returned waves. Whats up with that?

Sorry kids - there be rules to the jeep wave: http://jeeptalk.org/jeep_wave.php

Having also owned a couple of wranglers that fall into the "must keep two hands on the wheel so you get a finger wave" variety, I must say that it's an earned salute. Besides, I think Renes need our own wave - I envision enthusiastic flailing and big smiles - at least that's what I'll be doing

I never even knew about the "Wave", until this Forum! Maybe some of you other drivers have passed me & think I'm being rude, but when I' driving I'm usually concentrating on other things, so don't even think about it (even now that I know). I'm sure when I'm out on the trails & pass someone though, that it will be different & I'll be in the mindset to wave!

Yeah, mostly a Wrangler-only thing, at least around where I live. Actually more like a trail rig Jeep thing. I've seen Wranglers wave to big wheeled XJs a couple times.
When I had my XJ I rarely got any waves. I had really nice All Terrain tires on it but they weren't huge so I guess I was still too "stock" for waves. :p
I waved to fellow XJs, didn't always get a return. Some people don't "get" it or even recognize other Jeeps though.

Renegades should definitely start our own wave tradition. It's still exciting to spot one out in the wild.

Similar situation here by me. Jeeps are all over the damned place so most people aren't even aware of the wave. The built rigs are pretty good about it though - my XJ is lifted, fenders cut/folded and flat bushwhackers installed, 31x10.50 offroad tires, ION Alloy wheels, a Garvin basket with spare mount on the roof, and plenty of battle scars throughout the body. I can usually count on getting waved at at least once every drive.

In the Renegade, I've only been waved at once, by a Wrangler JK who seemed to be pretty excited to see a Renegade with MySky driving down the road.
