The Warranty decision ??

I was sold an extended warranty with my new TH it is called Preferred Protection Plan. I bought from an out of town dealership. Now reading on here most of you say to get only the Mopar one.. So I called local dealership and they said as long as it is an exclusionary plan I am fine. What do y'all think ? What will the difference be.. Also I see where "lifetime" warranty is referred to and I went to the Mopar site and did not see anything offered in lifetime.. So if you could please explain further. I just want my new baby to be covered as much as possible.. I plan on keeping it for at least 10 years(or that is what I say now lol).

Thanks for any help you can offer..

I purchased a zero deductible Exclusionary Plan. It allows me to go to any ASE certified technician to get my vehicle serviced as opposed to just a MOPAR service center. Much cheaper than the MOPAR plan. Don't know if one is necessarily better than the other.

Where did you get your warranty Eileen?
Through the Dealership. I believe it is called Land Car. Paid $871.

I bought the Mopar Vehicle Protection Plan. They offer a few different ones but I opted for the 800+ plan. Mine is the lifetime warranty meaning no limit on miles or years basically for the life of the vehicle. This is huge piece of mind as I traded in a popular Japanese car where the warranty was long gone and the transmission was starting to act weird, it was a 2012 model. That would be about 3+k to replace that item. Now no worries about that scenario again, as far as I know Chrysler is the only manufacturer that offers this warranty, and this warranty is through Chrysler not some 3rd party strange deal. The warranty kicks in after the original warranty expires so in my case after the 3 year 36k mile bumper to bumper expires, this kicks in covering most of the vehicle. It wasn't cheap at 2500 but when you consider the alternative it's a good deal. Since I purchased this when I bought my Renegade it's not so bad spreading it out over the life of the loan. Here is a link you can go look for yourself:

At first I was offered a 5 year (concurrent to the mfg warranty) $0 deductible plan through my dealer for $2000. Then I heard about the Lifetime plan through Mopar. The MaxCare plan covers 5000+ components of the Renegade for life with a $100 deductible, rental car, towing, and trip protection for $2300. Since I plan on keeping my Renegade, the latter made much more sense for only $300 more. And since I purchased it from an out of state dealer (Clay at Zeller Motors in Arkansas), I paid no sales tax, which was another bonus. They do a payment plan too, of $240 down and then 18 months 0% interest to pay it off.
This is our 1st new vehicle since a Caravan in 1997, We bought the Renegade with every intention on keeping it for a long time. We usually keep our vehicles 4-5 years and the last 2 we did get extended service contracts which in both cases came darn close to paying for themselves. With EP the Max care was really a no-brainer considering it's an FCA, 1st year vehicle. We have another Jeep and a work truck so if the little "Booger" ends up in the shop it won't kill us. It takes a pretty big load off our minds knowing that FCA will be liable in fixing most components for a very long time.
I apologize in advance..maybe this is spelled out somewhere? ? I'm new to site and considering 2016 trailhawk. ..i read people BUYING warranties? ? I see my local stealership offering FREE WARRANTY FOREVER. .on engine /powertrain in addition to the 3yr 36000mi bumper to bumper. So what's the real deal ??
You may want to look at the other warranty thread for more info, but I don't recall anyone saying a free lifetime warranty.

Mopar has a lifetime unlimited warranty available for Renegades and other Jeeps.
The dealer's cost is known to be around $2500, give or take.
The usual dealer asking price is around $3600 , but some dealers are fooling people into paying over $4000 for it.

Look at the fine print and see if the dealer requires you to buy the Jeep at MSRP.
I'd bet money it does.
The dealer will still be making serious bank this way.

Some caveats to the lifetime warranty offered through MOPAR. As a former Chrysler service advisor, I can tell you a few things, such as; there is a limit to the rental car and tow coverage... they expire once the vehicle reaches 100K. Also, there is an actual cash value provision in the fine print of the warranty. Basically it states if the cost of the repair exceeds the value of the vehicle, Chrysler has the right to buy it back from you at Actual Cash Value, rather than fix it.(example: if your trans mission goes out at 120K and the transmission replacement costs Chrysler$6500 and the value of the vehicle is $5000, Chrysler will stroke a check to you for $5000 and buy your car) Even so, still the best service contract available at any price

I think you'll find that the "forever" warranty is only on the powertrain (at least it's that way with my dealership) and that kicks in after the 3yr/36000 mile warranty.

I got the Lifetime MaxCare as well, just to have all my bases covered.
So it sounds like the advice is to purchase Max Mopar plan and cancel the one dealership sold me ? It has Road hazard, dent ding repair, oil changes, roadside assist., trip protection and can use it at any ASA cert. mechanic. This part is a hard decision for me I want to make the right choice for sure.
We purchased a 2015 caravan and got the gold plus extended warranty... did the same thing with the renegade... the things that sold me on it were: the regular maintence for oil changes, fluid top ups, filters and tire rotations are included, so if you do the math over those 5 years that alone is near the cost of the warranty. On top of that you can ditch having CAA (AAA) because it includes towing, rentals, and even hotel accomidations if needed. (i guess on a road trip or something)

Where's your dealership? Ours has the same free forever powertrain warranty as long as we own it.

What is the "Gold plus extended warranty"? Is this Dealership specific? What type of cost?
it cost us $2500 each on both vehicles (caravan and renegade) it might be a canadian thing... basicaly there was 2 types of exteneded warranties offered, silver and gold. I cant find anything online about it lol... its in my glove box, i'll try to dig it out later.

Ugh. I do something stupid every few months so here goes...

The renegade is sold as a 4x4. Not a AWD.

MaxCare has a list of parts they cover for 4x4 and another list for AWD.

Darn few of the generous 4x4 parts listed actually exist on the renegade.

And they will never cover the renegade under the AWD list.

So to win the game, I'm trying to buy a 2015 with the 100k warranty and get a total wrap warranty extension for the rest of the vehicle out to match the 100k drivetrain warranty. And just pay cash for repairs after 100k.

Years ago, I've had the best aftermarket warrranty when they went bankrupt 1 month after they rated A+ with AMBest. I believe in CYA, just can't believe you can do it 'forever'.

IMHO. Flame on.
