What do you use on your tires to keep them looking like new ? As tires age they look kind of brown. I don't know whether to use silicone or non-silicone based tire dressings.
To get rid of the brown I use Meguiar's Hot Rims All Wheel and Tire Cleaner. That will get them back to black. If you want to pimp your ride with shiny rubber, I cannot help you.

As long as it is water based, not oil based then you should be ok. We see alot of dry cracking in sidewalls on youngish tires. And use too much, it ends up on your doors and tailgate. Bleh

Do you guys power wash the tires first before putting the protective gel/spray on?
They get sprayed and a quick scrub. Then I hit it with the no touch before drying off the vehicle. I use it mainly as a no-gloss tire dressing. It'll clean a surprising amount on it's own, but I always knock the big chunks off first and the whole car gets hosed down when rinsing.

It left drip mark looking etching in their black paint. They went from uniform gloss black to a varied drippy looking hazy finish. Oh well. Live and learn. Glad it wasn't the set of OEMs. And this was just overspray/drips from cleaning the tires themselves. When I was a kid I did my dad a "favor" and detailed his '91 Spirit. I used wheel cleaner on his OEM snowflakes. Ate the clear coat off of them. Haven't used wheel cleaner directly on wheels since.
