Sounds like yours might need a software update. I believe most of the people who were having issues went back to their dealer and complained about the mpg. The dealer then updates the software and you're in business.

Also, check your build date on the door sill. I believe most of the Jeeps with issues were made prior to 4/15

I just bought this trail hawk but I'm only getting 16 mpg. is this normal for the break in period or am i doomed for the wrangler blues.
Try doing a reset when you're on the fuel economy screen. Press and hold "OK" on the steering wheel control. Note that this will completely reset your mileage history and will take some driving to get an accurate mpg figure.
When I first got my trailhawk the mpg read 32.3 for two days! After a reset I'm averaging 24mpg. Hope this helps!

My Trailhawk gets around 28 with about 75% highway driving. I can easily get over 30 during strictly highway driving at 55 mph (speed limit). At 65, it's around 30. Around town, I get 25.

My build is January, 2015 (purchased in April) and I now have just under 3,000 miles.

My average for the life is 23.8 right now. I am averaging 27.3 on this tank with mostly highway driving. I would be worried that something is wrong with that mpg though. Raz o was having bad mileage before his had major issues. I would get it checked out for sure.

I would check to make sure that it isn't in locked into 4wheel drive. I somehow accidentally locked mine in and didn't notice. As soon as I took it out my mileage went up. Although I was still getting 20 plus.

I laughed because mine was locked at 30.3 when I first noticed it with less than 15 miles on the vehicle and stayed that way til I finally reset it on my own.

I drove my TH to the Grand Canyon over the weekend and averaged 30 so 16 is definitely not normal.

Averaging 16-17mpg here in our Trailhawk, but I'm driving in Los Angeles. Then last weekend we did some highway driving and it didn't do all that much better. Glad to see there's a software fix - hopefully that's what's going on with ours.

Thanks to all. I was told by the sales man that the break in period is 1000 miles at that point the mileage should improve. I dont actually believe it but I will give it to 1000. Now I'm at 695 so we'll see. I'm hoping you are right and it is only a needed update. I also checked the manf. date and it was build in March so it helps the update issue. I will keep the forum updated as it happens.

Interesting. I asked my dealer and he said he was told specifically by Jeep in their Renegade training there is NO break in period on these. I find that hard to believe. About gas mileage; mine started off low... like in the upper teens. But the more i drive, it is slowing coming up. I'm at 20.7 and rising. So far ive been probably 95% town/city so lots of stop and go. If you floor it a lot, gas mileage will suffer... of course.

Im at almost 4k miles and I average 16-18. Currently I drive about 90% freeway to work, 36 miles round trip, and I do about 70 on the freeway, I've been getting slightly better with 19mpg on my last tank.
Renegade drag coefficient is not good. With mild hills, at 65ish, I was seeing 26mpg for straight highway. Driving aggressively or maintaining 70+ on significant grades impacts the car's mileage severely. Haven't gotten to test it since my Tpm was flashed though.

I've tried driving 65 all the way to an from work, made very little difference. The absolute best mpg I've seen since getting the trailhawk has been 20.5 on one tank.
And I don't accelerate agressively on a normal basis, if I do I can't get above 16-17mpg.

Not sure how to use the forum controls. I had to google my post just to find it. Those who responded to , I hope you got the response. If not , this is the response. I checked the manfg. date and it was built 3/15 so the software update may be the issue. I have tried to reset the on screen data and no worky.
Before I take it back to the dealer I'll do what the salesman said and drive for 1000 miles , according to him it will fix it when it breaks in. If not then I'll take other steps. There is one more issue if anyone can help. The usb nor the inverter works when the car is not running and there is no accessory switch in the ignition. (push button start) read the manual and nothing there. Is that the only way to use them ? (Really beginning to miss my wrangler)

I don't believe the "car needs to break in" excuse. The most I would expect to see the mileage increase would be maybe 1 mpg after 1,000 miles.

The problem has to be programming or driving technique. If you are already accelerating gradually and not driving at high speed on the highway (~80 mph), then a module(s) update may be in order.

Other things that will kill the gas mileage are areas with lots of hills, spirited driving, and winding out the engine using the manual stick mode.

Driving technique could definitely be at play. I also don't really believe the whole break in thing. It's a common thing that car people talk about, so I don't discount it completely, but it can only account for so much. For me, I would focus on driving technique and looking into if you have the most up to date software from Jeep.

I'm leaning towards the software. My driving technique would be close to what I would describe as old lady driving. I am bringing up the speed slowly and using cruise as much as possible even in town just trying to get more mpg. Also this past weekend I went camping at about 6500 to 7000 ft. On those mountain fire roads top speed would about 20 to 25 and still I got 16 mpg and had to end the trip early because of it. So I will go to the dealer at 1000 miles and see what they got to say.
