My Personal Review
Picked up my red TH on Tuesday 3/26 from Ron Lewis Jeep in Pleasant Hills. I saw this vehicle at the Pittsburgh auto show and was blown away. I literally went back to look at it on three different occasions. I traded in a 2012 Dodge Charger and was worried about going to a 4 cylinder engine. I was surprised at the power the TH had during the test drive. It has enough power to get you on the highway during rush hour with no problems. I didn't notice the 'high speed sway and bounce' that professional reviews mention due to the added height. This could be due to the lack of miles on it.
The interior screams a good time. It does have some hard surfaces, but honestly, if you're concerned about things like that, maybe Jeep isn't the brand for you. Loving the easter eggs, but after that novelty wears off, you're still left with a well functioning interior. There isn't much room for your stuff, but I quickly got over that the first 5 miles. There is a small blind spot that the massive mirrors make up for.
I haven't had the opportunity to take it off road yet, but I did manage to find a loose gravel hill near a construction site. I pulled up to a dead stop, put it in 4x4 rock and gave it about a half pedal of gas. The tires didn't slip at all. Tried again with a full pedal and the tires slipped maybe an inch worth of spin before biting. This was a pretty steep hill, so I was very impressed. My Charger had AWD, and it was nothing compared to this. May as well have been trying to pedal a bicycle on ice in comparison.
Took the Renegade to my in-law's where quite a few people had an opportunity to check it out thoroughly. Be prepared to answer the question 'What is it?' over and over. Everyone, and I mean everyone from the little kids, to the 65+ adults, loved it. The only semi- negative comment we got was 'I don't like red, but this looks really good with those black accents'. Overall, I couldn't be more happy. The dealership (Ken the internet sales person) worked with us on budget and we got a 1K discount, and they bought out my old lease early to make it happen. Now......need to find someone with another 4x4 to make use of those tow hooks if I get stuck (which will be the objective!)
