The work may require nuts AND bolts, and probably the side molding clips that will be broken when they remove the bumper cover.

Waiting for the parts list and I will do it myself. I am not going to wait around for months for them to finally get parts in and mail out another letter.

Got my letter in yesterday to call my dealer and schedule it to be repaired...it's only an hour away then waiting for them to repair it, then an hour drive home...sigh

There are a total of 6 studs/bolts that tie the hitch to the frame. My TH has the 2 outer most bolts (outside frame rails) there and the 4 inner bolts (2 per side) are missing. So potentiality of something coming undone while towing is the reason for the recall

Surprising how slow this goes. Identified above on 8/22. I didn't get my recall notice until 9/20ish. Canada apparently was notified back in July about this same issue. http://www.jeeprenegadeforum.com/fo...62-trailer-tow-hitch-assembly.html#post573914

Even more frustrating is they don't have the parts to fix it? How hard is it to install a few nuts? My car is supposed to go in for multiple service engine notifications (even after they replaced the TCM) on Monday, and I wanted them to fix both issues at the same time.
" you wanted for them to fix both issues at the same time" LOL!!! Good Luck with that.....

I myself have gotten 2 papers in the mail about this recall! (maybe because its in mine and my gf's name?) But... I havent taken it to the dealership yet (they've had it enough! lol almost 1.5months since I got it...) but I will probably take it in next month.... I've also still been towing with it.... xD a TRUE Renegade! >: )

Dropped mine into the dealer (UK) for the recall work and had a peek at the work sheet, its just the 6 nuts involved, add missing and torque up. But as its a bumper off (according to sheet) then the extra parts required are the clips 15 or so which will probably get broken in the repair process.

Turns out my recalled TH hitch had all the bolts, they were just missing some washers. Got the washers installed and the recall resolved today. Here's a photo of the affected bolts. I took the photo of the ones from the passenger side by the muffler. The affected bolts are the ones noted by the arrows.
