We bought our Renegade Latitude back in February. I notice issues with it a couple of weeks ago. Felt like it was slipping and missing. I took it to the dealership and the manager test drove it and felt the same thing I did. He said since there were no light indicators he would email Jeep engineers to see if he could get an answer. Three days later the transmission goes out and every light you can think of lit up. The car has 2865 miles. This is unacceptable and I am anxious to see what they say when it shows up in the morning on a tow truck. I am not happy at all.

Oh crap this sucks! Do you have the 9 speed automatic? I am guessing you do. Please keep us updated.

Sounds like a similar problem that others have reported - Jeep will take care of you, no worries. It sucks that you had to go through this, but rest assured you will not be left hanging dry.

If a vehicle is off road (VOR) They will accelerate the process to get you a new transmission. Contact ChryslerCares and they will get things moving.
Hi RenegadeTech, do you have to start this yourself or should the dealer do this?

Also, from your experience with the 9 speed transmissions, some people here report they are nice and smooth and others report they are so bad theres are bought back. Is there anything we can do during a test drive or to ask the dealer to check to know if the transmission is operating smoothly and less likly to fail, before we buy?

I tried calling jeep care. They told me there is nothing they can do. The transmission is on back order. I was told the dealership gave me rental and I should be happy with the base model patriot they gave us to use while mine is gone. So now I pay for renegade with options and drive a patriot with Manuel locks and Windows. I asked for credit on the account I was told no. If I do not make my payment they will repo the jeep and that it would be easy to do since it is at the dealership. So my experience with jeep cares was more like jeep doesn't care! Most likely will be the last Chrysler/fiat product I buy. Can't wait for the lease to be up.

Document. Check your lemon laws. If the back order takes too long, they can go suck it. They will be buying it back.

Also, depending on your laws you might be able to get compensated for actual loss of use and drpreciation during this. That gets trickier and you would need to consult a lemon law lawyer knowledgable about your state.

Thanks razo I looked into lemon law for my state the day they told me about the wait. Pa lemon law says 3 times in the garage for the same reason that started with in the first 12000 miles or if repairs take longer than 30 days. I did get a call today from the dealership the time frame has been moved up. Basically they said I will end up getting back with a 29 day repair time. So I have about a week before I get it back.

29 days. That's borderline insulting/stupid as there's a really good chance with an r&r by someone who isn't a transmission specialist that something will need a little tlc after return and it will be 30 days anyway and trip two.

At 1050 miles my transmission ditched me pulling a hill on my long commute home. Unfortunately I did not think about soft codes and kept trying for a bit to get up the hill. That being sAid I received a software update. Things seem to be going fairly well now. I am at 4800 miles and continuing my ground pounding life. I average 3000 miles a month so maybe I will lead the pack on discovering things.

wow, I thought it was just my car having issues. I just reached 1000 miles yesterday coming home from work but it has been happening since I brought her home almost a month ago. I figured it was part of the recall that came out like 2 weeks ago for the brakes and the ignition.

When I am driving I can feel the car "skip" and then accelerate. Is that what you guys where doing? My husband thought I was going crazy and took her for a spin and had the same thing happen. Are the transmissions just going out quickly for these cars? I have not taken her anywhere off road yet. The most she has had to do is just a lot of stupid mall speed bumps, lol.

I know that there is an issue with the breaks releasing even when your foot is on the break per the recall. I have not had that happen but I know it was happening with others. There is also the issue with the key getting stuck in the ignition and I know I have been having that issue with both keys. Guess it is time to add this to the list of things for the dealership to fix.

Did anyone else hear/read about a recall?
