This should apply only to Europe/Middle East/Africa markets. There should be a seperate US TSB somewhere out there.

Yes, please post the one for North America, if available. I was actually going to take my Renegade into the dealer tomorrow and show them this TSB because my brake squeal is unbearable. They likely won't give me the time of day if it is only for EMEA.

My dealer said there was only a Star report on it, and they consider it an annoyance at this time and are not going to do anything about it.
If that's the case, then I'm going to see about fixing it myself following the resolution description of the EMEA TSB. I assume I'd be able to see the excess sealant they describe. Not sure how the bolts would cause squealing...

Told our dealer Hollywood Jeep that the front brakes where making noise and they replace the pads and the rotors for us and we have just over 3,000 miles on her.

I took my renegade to the dealer this morning, I had a rear squeal after cold nights. They told me they wont do anything and they think its a coating that needs to be worn down. Said to come back at 10,000 km if its still happening.

It must be a very thick coating. 10000 km? Absolute bull.
Yeah, I mentioned that there is a bulletin about the issue in some other renegades but they weren't having it. Something about the warranty being up to 20k km so they try to wait until it is a bigger issue. Since its only happening for a couple minutes in the morning they want to wait to see if it remedies itself. They also mentioned something about condensation and rust happening overnight that could be causing the noise as well. Hopefully they put out a north american TSB soon. Its hard to accomplsh much in Canada when there are so few of them here, dealerships don't see much of them in service yet.

I was told at this time there is no TSB in Canada about it but it is very annoying to say the least. While I was at the dealership they did the software update for the transmission. It seems to be shifting more smoothly now and doesn't hesitate when at a full stop like it used to.

If this helps, my Renegade has over 18000 miles on the clock and the cold morning squeal has almost become comical. It is so loud some mornings that it could be compared with a small jet engine igniting except it is ear piercing.

Every car can get surface rust on the rotors very quickly if the conditions are right. Even if that happens, and if it causes noise, after braking a couple times this superficial rust will be abraded. Many cars would have squealing brakes if overnight surface rust were the culprit.

My brakes started squealing almost out of the showroom. I read another thread on this forum & saw that bedding in the brakes would fix it.

So I gave it a try & the squeal has gone away. I have now had squeal free brakes since Nov 23.

Here is the thread link.

http://www.jeeprenegadeforum.com/fo...305-brakes-noisy-squealing-brakes-thread.html

I found a quiet stretch of road, got my speed up to 60mph, then braked really hard down to 20mph, accelerated back to 60mph, then braked hard down to 20mph etc... Until the brakes began to fade, then kept driving without braking until the brakes cooled down.

No noise ever again.
