We just got a 2021 Renegade Trailhawk, with the Uconnect 4C NAV system with 8.4" touchscreen. There's a lot to learn about the nav system, and I've been researching the owner's manual and anything I can find online from Jeep and other sources like YouTube. I've also been practicing on the road.

One thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to use the display on the dashboard between the tach and speedometer. I think it's called either the turn-by-turn display, or the junction view display...? It's this:

2396351012

This visually displays each upcoming turn -- first quite a distance out (about a mile); then repeating the display as you get closer, showing the distance to the turn in the upper-right. And it's obviously supposed to cancel automatically once the turn is made, and repeat with the next turn.

This is supposed to pop up while the screen is normally displaying other information -- I don't usually want too much information there, so I just have it set on the audio display. By the way, I also have the nav display up on the main Uconnect head unit; I just like the turn display and distance directly in front of me.

Many times this works fine. Other times it gets "stuck" on the previous turn; displaying "0 ft" to the turn, even when I've long made the turn. Like it was doing in the image above -- I was already about a half-mile past that turn, and it was still showing. The only way to cancel it is to press the UP arrow on the steering wheel control, and then it may (or may not) work fine for the next turn.

First, what's this feature actually called?

Second, what am I doing wrong? What setting do I use to switch it on or off?

And third, do I have a problem with the nav system?

I just posted about this exact same issue. Just got the 2021 Renegade Limited and did our first test of the NAV and our turn instructions are getting stuck on the Instrument Cluster Display as well!!! My 2018 Jeep Compass with UConnect NAV does not have this same problem. It ALWAYS goes back to the previous screen (on ours its the digital speed) shortly after the turn/intersection is passed.

I guess in a way I'm glad that we are not alone.

OK, I see your other post here -- I did a quick search of the Forum, and didn't see it before:

Instrument Cluster Display NAV "stuck" Issue | Jeep Renegade Forum

Yeah, definitely not the way it's supposed to work. The RNS-510 nav on my 2009 VW GLI also has a (red-screen) turn-by-turn display between the tach and the speedometer, in addition to the display on the head-unit screen; and it works correctly as I'm approaching turns and cancels right afterward.

And I see your issue is also intermittent.

At least it's not just me... I'm just wondering whether I'm doing something wrong...

Nobody can help Sodner or me? 😕 :)

So there are some settings that are possible connected with this, which I can't find any information on.

One is on the dashboard, under Vehicle Settings / Display. It gives two settings: "Nav Repetition" and "Phone Repetition." I have "Nav Repetition" enabled, but I have not idea what that does -- not mentioned at all in the Owner's Manual.

The other is on the nav screen itself, under Nav Settings / Guidance / Junction View. This is mentioned in the Owner's Manual, but it doesn't give any hint as to what it does.

Hi @Marek K --

Congratulations on your latest purchase! We might be a little bias, but we think you made an awesome choice. I'm sorry to hear that you're noticing concerns with your Uconnect system. As for your turn-by-turn distance not matching your radio's displayed distance, please know that our engineering teams are aware of this and are actively working on a resolution. While it is subject to change at any time, there is a software update that is projected to be released in Q2. I apologize that we couldn't be of more assistance at this time but we appreciate your patience as we work towards a more flawless platform.

Thanks,

Courtney

Any word on the Stuck issue? Do you at least have this recorded as a bug that might be addressed in a future update? Or is this "distance matching" issue the same?

Seems dangerous to leave an old "turn by turn" instruction up on a display well past its intended use. As in the picture, miles past the original instruction to turn, the display still shows me to turn right in 50ft all while the large screen tells me I'm to exit in 2 miles.

I believe this Phone Repetition will display incoming calls and such on the dashboard mini display. Not sure on the other.

Hi Courtney--

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping you'd chime in. :)

Please note that with me (and I think with Sodner), it's not that the turn-by-turn distance doesn't match the nav displayed distance; it does, as far as I can tell.

It's that about 50% of the time, the turn-by-turn guidance on the dashboard doesn't cancel after making the turn.

Is that what you guys are aware of?

So Q2... that would mean between now and the end of June 2021?

And... How do we get software updates like this? Automatically downloaded? Hopefully we don't have to purchase them...?

Yeah... So it's logical that the "Nav Repetition" displays the turn-by-turn guidance on the dash. In any case, I've got it enabled; and it's trying to do that...

Using the New JEEP Wave program, I have opened a case with JEEP Customer care. We'll see what this does. Perhaps others with this issue should do the same? Personally I bet a car payment that if I went to any local Jeep dealer and took a Renegade with NAV for a test drive it would have this issue.

So does ANYONE with a 2021 Jeep Renegade with 8.4 NAV have turn instructions not get stuck over half the time?

Not sure whether that'll accomplish anything. If the Uconnect people are aware of the issue, and are planning to release an update within a month or two, then there isn't much that can probably be done in the meantime.

Assuming that update doesn't cost us anything, of course.

I suppose opening a case would at least document the problem...

Hello again,

I can certainly mention the various symptoms you have been experiencing, to ensure that our teams have all of the necessary information needed to work on a resolution. As of right now, we do not have a definitive date as to when the software update will be released, but it is still projected to be early Q2. I will definitely reach back out to all of you on this thread once we receive more information on this, so that you all remain informed. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, do not hesitate to send us a message with your inquiry.

I apologize that I couldn't be of more assistance at this time but I appreciate your patience as I wait for more information to be released.

Thank you,

Courtney

I've had 2 updates in the 3 years on our Compass and there are no costs involved. Honestly as long as a fix is eminent I feel better. Simply turning off the Nav Repetition is probably the best solution until then.

Thank again, Courtney. Do you have a clear picture of our symptoms, which both seem to be identical? From what you're saying, ti's not altogether clear that your software teams are aware of this specific problem...

And would it help if I opened a case with Jeep, like Sodner did?

Um, early Q2 is already just past :) , assuming you're working on a calendar quarter... I'd say it's now mid-Q2...

Yeah, me too. Assuming they're aware of this specific issue, and are working on that.

Not for me. It doesn't confuse me when it doesn't cancel, just annoys the hell of me -- there are no voice prompts when it doesn't cancel. I'll just have to get used to cancelling it with OK when it doesn't do it on its own.

I haven't noticed, when it doesn't cancel, whether the next prompt comes up or not...

My new 2021 Renegade is also having this issue. It is very annoying. I keep cancelling it manually, but would like this to be fixed.

Good morning Marek,

Yes, I have made note of these threads and engagements so that our teams can see all of the details and get all of the same information that you've provided me with. While I understand that the projected release date may not provide as much clarification as you would like, I am relaying the most up to date information that I have access to. I will be sure to reach back out on this thread when I receive an update.

You can certainly schedule an appointment with your dealer if you would like to explore alternative potential solutions. Our team can get you set up with a Case Specialist to work alongside your dealer throughout the repair process, if you're interested. Just let us know!

Thanks,

Courtney

So that makes three of us with 2021 Uconnect 4C systems that have the identical turn-by-turn issue, along with some other various issues.

Anyone know how long Uconnect (4C or otherwise) has been around? Anyone with earlier systems having these sorts of problems?

Here's my current map database (dating from 2019!) and system version:

Not only your map database, but your nav system version!

I got my Renegade Trailhawk exactly three weeks ago, special-ordered; but I see some tags on it showing it was already built in October 2020.

I talked on the phone with the dealer's service department today. They ran my VIN, and said there are no software updates available for my vehicle.

Wonder what your dealer would tell you...?
