Hello!

i just got a renegade with the 5" radio. is there any way to make it accept another video/audio in? I'd like to try to get a raspberry pi to run on it for shits and grins, or something like that. or maybe my phone for google maps. or both.

someone called coastaletech makes a lockpick that should work for the bigger radio, but theirs doesn't work with the 5" for whatever reason. it looks like crux interfacing rvcch-75 or WVICH-03 might work? is anybody familiar with such things?

also if i can break the vehicle in motion thing, i would be ok with that.

I've wondered about this myself. I also wondered if anyone would replace the stock unit with an aftermarket one. I do know that the vehicle in motion may not be done by some areas due to laws.

It's actually really easy. The trim around the radio with the "Since 1941" pops off and then it's just four T25 torx screws. There's nothing to write home about on the back of the radio though. Antenna's, USB and the main radio harness connector.

USB port? Wonder if I could plug my iPod directly into the back and hide it instead of on the front above the Moab map tray....

Negative. It's a proprietary plug. You might be able to find an adapter somewhere but I wouldn't count on it. It's a "USB" plug that has a cable that runs to the other USB plugs in the care. Above map tray and in the center console.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why the usb in the console is charge only and if there's a way to convert it to iPod compatible.

I guess I should be using the "Quote" button here. My bad.

I have a Latitude. My USB port in the center console is connected to the radio. Try it out. I did read that it was charge only. Tried it not thinking.

Just tried it again (thought maybe I did it wrong before after reading your post). Definitely charge only, Uconnect screen says "no USB inserted." The plug in the console even has a little battery symbol. So maybe they made a lucky mistake with yours or did you get some kind of audio upgrade option?

As far as I know it's the standard 6 speaker, uConnect 5.0 system. Mine has a USB logo above it.

I just got a Trailhawk yesterday - the USB on the center console plays through the radio - it's not just a charge only - at least in the vehicle I bought yesterday.
