1: Has anyone been able to figure out how to change the background on the 5 inch media display?

2: Has anyone with an iPhone been able to have messages load into Uconnect? My message inbox always says empty, even when I receive a message while bluetooth is connected.

i think from what I've read, in regard to the messages, that right now its not compatible with iPhone...
honestly I'm considering replacing the base unit with an aftermarket of apple car play

How much does apple car play cost? And would it actually be compatible with the renegade given the Uconnect voice hardware for both the speakers and steering wheel buttons?

Is that background customizable? Never knew that.

Also, iPhone 6 is no-go with messaging function.

thats one unit I've found, and from what I've read its not so much its own OS think of it more as an app.

I was reading around on the Uconnect website, and it says the background IS supposedly customizable.

Several of the carplay units by alpine and pioneer are indeed compatible with the system in Jeeps, and there are conversion units which allow you to keep the steering wheel controls. The only issue at this point is that there probably isn't a dash kit yet for the Renegade. Give it some time (a few months maybe?) and I'm sure there will be. If you want to see what is available, go search Crutchfield for the Wrangler, which uses the same exact system.
