Hi,
I’m thinking of buying a 2020 Renegade Night Eagle 2 (UK Petrol 1.3 with Function pack 2) but its missing the cool new LED lights.
I’ve done a bit of searching but cant find a definitive answer, so does anyone know if it is possible to replace the entire headlight assembly with the OEM LED headlights? There are some on ebay but would they just be ‘plug and play’? Or does the car need more hardware to control the LED lights effectively and correctly?

i found these on a Chinese website:

Would they be any good? Or would OEM be better or even work?

Also, does anyone know if the digital dash is retrofittable in models that have the monochrome display (like the night eagle 2)?

Nope. I've got a 2021 Renegade Trailhawk still on order, with the OEM bi-LED headlights. Not sure I'll be able to say any more about compatibility even after I get it...

I do think the earlier OEM bi-xenon headlights would be at least as good as the current bi-LEDs, depending on their price. I have no idea about installation. Though the headlight range adjustment system might be an issue, particularly for those of you int he UK who have to go through MOT inspections...

The automatic range adjustment isn't necessary on these Xenon/Hid-headlights due to being only a 25 Watt Xenon/HID (D5S) bulb (you don't have to have "headlight-sprayer/washer either).
Don't know if this is a problem with the new LED-headlight, but if the switch is an indicator (it has manual adjustment, which is never combined with automatic adjustment) that's not a problem either.
This is based on the regulations we have here in Sweden, which usually is in line with the most strict regulations.

My guess based on my work is that switching to the new LED-headlight is bolt on, however, I don't recall seeing the option for "LED headlight" in AlfaObd. I will have a look when I find the phone that have the software installed....
As stated in my thread, the dealer most likely can't change the software-setting due to some limitations set by Jeep/Fiat.

Biggest problems are prices, a pair of new Xenon/Hid-headlights are roughly $1 200, and I guess the LED:s aren't cheaper.

A couple of pictures below from a LED-equipped vehicle.

I'm not familiar with D5S HID bulbs -- just D2S. So it's only the D2S (and D2R...? So 35w?) HID bulbs that require automatic range adjustment?

Note that while auto range adjustment is (theoretically) mandatory for HID lights here in the U.S, headlight washers aren't.

So at least in Sweden -- and I guess the EU -- the OEM bi-LED headlights only require manual range adjustment? Our Renegade hasn't arrived yet, so I don't know what kind of range adjustment -- if any -- the U.S.-spec models have...

I don’t know if the lower requirements are due to a certain design feature of the D5S or the fact that it’s only a 25w bulb, I would imagine the latter.
It’s kind of an unusual setup but I know some of the Jeep’s cousins, such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia have have the same kind of setup, as a basic HID option.
as far as I know, of course I could be wrong, I don’t think any model of the Renegade has automatic range adjustment, but again, I could be wrong.
Sweden has had automatic range requirements on HID-headlights for a long time, I remember when my friend imported a 350Z from the states in ~2005-2006 we hade to downgrade to halogens due to no automatic range adjustment.

I just swapped mine. Went super easy.
I think this is super-significant. I've got the factory-optional LED headlights on my 2021 Trailhawk (and love them!).

But a lot of people have been justifiably wondering how to upgrade their mediocre OEM halogen headlights to something better -- either HID or LED. There didn't seem to be any aftermarket choices available for later Renegades.

But I think you've hit on the answer; despite the cost (how much, by the way?).

You say you're still working on the DRL halo feature. But does the bi-LED feature now work (high- and low beams)?

So this was completely plug-and-play? And you just need to re-code to get the DRL halo feature?

Ya plug and play. I have about 500 in the two lights. I figured out why the halos arent working. I'm making an install guide for these. I did find the led fogs but had to order them from Italy cause I couldn't find them in the states.

*I have to edit this. Just did the test drive at night and there are two halves to the led lights. When you put on the highs only the top half lights. I am guessing when I program it, it will light both halves cause I'm missing the bottom half of the light pattern when driving with highs on. Once I get my cable to do the programming I can update it you if that works. Still has amazing output in low beam compared to the stock. *

Yes hi and low beams work just plugging them in. The halo is because the regular lights only have 3 wires wired into them. The led has 2 more pins for the halos. I'll have to swing them over to the headlights from the existing daylight running lights.

Any update on the lights? My mom has a 2020 Renegade and my brother just bought a 2022 Wrangler, and I bet they would both love the OEM LEDs, especially if they are more or less plug and play. Did you get yours programmed and working properly including your fog lights you had on order?

Ya I've got high and low beams working. As far as the halos I ordered 2 headlight connector repair kits to add the wiring necessary to get those working. I think I'll have them fully working once I get those.
