Jeep’s dirt-loving Renegade runabout is being driven somewhere in Michigan.
A user on JeepRenegadeForum spotted the baby Jeep sitting in an apartment compex parking lot. Based on the same platform as the Fiat 500L, the Renegade will help Fiat Chrysler Automobiles push the Jeep brand with European buyers. But it’s likely to be a hit in this market, too. Small Jeeps sell well.
U.S. customers can look forward to picking between either a 1.4- or a 2.4-liter gasoline engine mated to a nine-speed automatic just like the new Cherokee. There will also be a manual transmission version sold here.
Pricing hasn’t been announced for the car, but it is rumored to start at $18,595 while the off-road intended Trailhawk model is expected to cost considerably more at $25,895. The cute ute will arrive in the first quarter of 2015. Presumably, Jeep will show the Renegade next week during the New York Auto Show, at which point more information about the car might be available.
