What the Renegade would look like if it were extended.

2017 Jeep Patriot Mule spied testing with Renegade Body.

Seems that the Fiat 2017 Jeep Patriot/Compass replacement will be a stretched version of the platform that underpins the Renegade and Fiat decided to use an existing Renegade to test it (as per the article above). But the reason I am posting a Patriot/Compass article in the forum is because it shows what the Renegade might look like if was extended (or have an extended version of itself).

Looks like it would be about 4-5 inches more in length and that would translate into a bigger gas tank and more cargo room.
:D
Although I doubt an extended Renegade will happen (at least for the foreseeable future), I don't see why not since the older brother the Wrangler has an extended version of itself.

Thoughts?

I might be interested if it comes with an option for a more powerful engine. I'm thinking 220 to 250 hp. And a manual transmission option too.
I think that extra 5 inches actually ruins the 'symmetry' of the design. Ok symmetry is a poor word choice, proportion if you will. I think it looks more Subaru Forester now, like a strange tall wagon, then a cute little Jeep. IMO
makes you wonder, will they just stretch the Renegade to be the new C-segment and then develop a smaller SUV to be a little smaller then the Renegade is now.

You are half right, they will stretch the Renegade chassis but the body will be unique, such as shown here:

Jeep has said they are considering A-Segment, but time will tell, here is a thread discussing it:

If the Renegade has some people thinking the Cherokee is a better buy... I don't see how this larger Patriot/Compass replacement has a future.

I dont think they are doing it, but it would make since for them to do what i said earlier in this thread. Stretch the Renegade 5 inches, push the back seats back 2in which leaves 3 more inches for the cargo. have the 2.4 as the base engine the Hurricane as an optional and the 3.2 pentastar. i've really heard only 3 main complaints for the renegade and this will solve all 3. Not enough cargo space, not enough power, not good enough mpg for class.
Then instead of making a new C-segment (since you just turned the Renegade into a C-segment where i think its better suited). Then create a new smaller CUV, perhaps a 2 door thats got a better aero body. it needs 35mpg highway for the 2x4 and 32-33 for the 4x4.
If this is the case the need a V6 six speed automatic and a bigger gas tank.
I LOVED my Honda Element. How about a taller Renegade with suicide doors in back :)
