Renegade orders are being handled very differently than the rest of the Jeep lineup. Here is how one normally works:

Dealer/customer build vehicle in VOIM
POC is printed on the spot for price lock
VIN and Build date are assigned within 2 weeks
Vehicle arrives in 6-8 weeks.

How the Renegade is being "ordered":
Dealer/customer select PREFERENCES
No POC is printed and there is no price locks guarantee.
Dealer will then see this order show up in a batch 4+ months down the road
Dealer must then say "yay" or "nay" to the entire batch

Please don't be misled by dealers. For the first 6 months, you will only be buying what's on the lot unless you are willing to another half year almost.

This is all we know right now, hoping this gets more transparent as we go

Source? We've been hearing from Jeep Corporate and from other dealerships that this all changed this week and orders can now be submitted through VOIM. If this isn't what changed, then what changed? Is it just more bullshit from Jeep?

By the way - I apologize if I sounded rude above, it's just that we've been getting conflicting information about all of this lately and I don't know who to believe anymore. Car buying should not be a frustrating process, yet here we are.

For the record, I submitted an order last night through VOIM, and I have a POC sitting right in front of me. Once I have VON and VIN, I will report back.

I too would like some major clarity/confirmation on this. I test drove one 3/28 and built my own on 4/2 all at the dealership. When I asked my sales rep at the time of building if this was 1) a literal order, build, and ship a Renegade of my preference or 2) them finding an already-built Renegade that just so happened to fit my preferences, he said that it would indeed be option number 1 (I only cared about which one was faster). Today, 4/10 (8 days later) I received a voicemail from him saying that the building has started. I still dk where that puts me in the waiting process but figured it was good news at the very least - I thought it wouldn't get processed/built until a month in. Wish I wouldn't have missed the call!

"Ordering"

VOIM update was on 4/10 and there are no renegade options in there. All dealerships can do is submit preferences but there is no guarantee that they will get them. If dealer is offering to collect a deposit and "order" a Renegade, expect at least a 4 month wait. Even then, no guarantee it will come out the way you ordered, especially if certain parts start running low

Then I'm not sure how my dealer, Merrick Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Wantagh (NY), was able to submit the order through VOIM and I have a printed POC.

If what you're saying is true, then I've been misled by them. Guess I'll be spending some time on the phone with FCA to get to the bottom of this.

Again, I'm not trying to argue with you personally, I appreciate the info you're sharing with us. I'm just getting frustrated with this whole ordering process in general, and more specifically, at my dealer if they just fed me some BS to take my deposit and then reneg later with a vehicle that doesn't match my specification.

Hi Willie, last week while searching Google Images for some shots of the Renegade I came across a link to an image from what seemed to be a screenshot of an announcement for dealers in the Jeep ordering system. It explained the steps and lead time for the newly allowed custom order Renegade's. Can you please see if you can find that info in your ordering system, when I went back to find the link I was not able to.

It's still all being rolled out so it's possible it may not be in your system or it's hard to find? I and a few other forum members were told directly from FCA support that full Sold Order custom ordering is available

I finally test drove a Trailhawk...however, not in the right color or options. I'm in Salt Lake, they did a search, and the closest one that SOMEwhat fit my build was in Kansas. But still missing "must haves." So...they gave me the option to order exactly what I want, and was told it would come in 8 weeks. They require $1000 down, and said they'll have a selling price for me on Monday. I can use either the USAA car buying service, or the car buying service through Navy Federal...which...by the way...is offering 1.99% for 48-60 months...1.75% for 36 months. So..I'll have an update on ordering on Monday.

so, if i do custom order one and it takes 4 months, could i potentially end up with a 2016 model that has been locked in with a 2015 price? and what if options have changed or are no longer available?

for example, say i place an order in june with an expected delivery 4 months later in october?

any ideas how this would work?

thanks!

yes that's one downside. Your vehicle will be locked in as a 2015 and receive an entire model year's worth of essential depreciation. Plus actual depreciation of 4 months for the wait time.

If you sell the Renegade privately, the buyer will consider the car that it is a year older but the dealer should go with the in service date (the day you dive off the lot) if you trade it in.

Just to chime in on the thread title - I placed an order for a mostly loaded trailhawk yesterday - received vehicle order number and the sales agent will be providing me with progress updates every Friday. Only things I didn't include on mine we leather, cold weather, heated seats and nav/Sirius/bigger display.

I've now had two dealers both say they don't see my O. Orange Trailhawk anywhere on their inventory list here or anywhere currently. And, both suggested I factory order with the 4 month wait.

So, I replied back in email a few questions...if one comes in with the right specs before the estimated arrival time of my ordered Trailhawk, can I switch?

Oh, and the dealer I spoke most in detail with DOES require a $1000 deposit...which WOULD go towards the price of the car.

Chrysler support has stated directly that no deposit is necessary so try to haggle with your dealer. And by "no deposit necessary" I mean FCA says it's up to the dealer how much, if any, goes down, but that FCA takes custom orders with no money down. Mainly because someone will buy the thing.
