Wiring kit for Trailer Hitch Retrofit Kit

6949 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Sweetsally
Good morning everyone. My Jeep dealership just put the Trailer Hitch Retrofit Kit. That look like very nice but the only problem, the dealership doesn't know at all how to connect the wiring of the hitch to the car. Do I need and adapter or converter box or anything else... If anyone has some instruction please help me. I'm a little bit discourage.

If I need extra stuff please tell me where I'm able to buy that stuff

Thanks

Trailer hit wiring converter

Hello: Just read on Renegade Ready website about the converter kit required for wiring attachment. Here is their explanation and their price is $88.
I quote:
OPTIONAL ELECTRICAL WIRING CONVERTER BOX:
Plug and play style. Minimal wiring required. May be used with 4" pigtail or spliced into connector included on bumper
Only from Renegade Ready: simplified wiring instructions with specialty fuse holder for easier installtion, plus heat-shrink tubing and wiring instructions for splicing into bumper connector.

If you will never tow a trailer or need trailer lights, no additional wiring is required (though you should remove the connector included on the new bumper so that no-one will think it is wired for lights.)

Hope this is what you were wondering about and that it helps you out. Enjoy
I saw it, but the option is only when you buy the hitch. I already have it. I need to buy it separately but no option.
If I have any part number that will be great. that going to be easier to order.

But thanks for your answer
From MOPAR;

"Unfortunately after going through our internal channels I was able to find that Mopar does not have a hitch receiver or wiring harness available for the Renegade yet. It was estimated that a part should be available sometime in July. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hope this helps!"

From Renegade ready:
" If you will be towing a trailer, you will need this specialty lighting converter box.

The wiring on the Renegade tail lights is not standard so this box is currently the best and only option for wiring with the standard 4-Flat style trailer connector.

Also, you might probably need other parts to complete the install. Let me know the part numbers you ordered to your dealer and I can advise you on what you might be missing.

The wiring kit by itself includes additional components to make the job easier and 6 full color pages of instructions that we have created. We don't have it by itself on the website at the moment, but it is $88 USD and the shipping to Canada costs $18.41 USD by US postal mail.

We have the complete kit in stock ready for immediate shipment. Please let me know how you would like to proceed."

Hitchweb probably has what you're looking for if I am understanding the situation correctly. I tried to look up wiring for you but nothing came up. Probably because your vehicle is so new. I would recommend calling them as they can find something for you. Here is their website: 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailer Hitches
