Wow. Have you actually been calling Customer Care -- Elizabeth at 844-827-1926 ext 5140895?

And at least that one Jeep dealer still has a cylinder head available:

68708207AA - Mopar Parts Giant

It's $2,225.15, which is more like what I'd expect. Not sure why I was seeing $408 before... Maybe that was just the gasket.

Your dealer can't do a dealer-to-dealer transfer...?
Nope the dealers can ask the price they want and Jeep can refuse to pay it. Yes I called my case manager again. Asked to speak to a manager. All they will say is they have expedited the request and are waiting on the manufacturer. So basically until the factory produces new cylinder heads I'm out of luck. They will not purchase the heads sitting in inventory right now.

I just got the call that Jeep is authorizing the dealer to purchase the cylinder head from another dealer at the additional cost. Fingers crossed.

Glad to hear that. As far as I understand, that's a common procedure among dealers. Wonder why it wasn't so common here...?

What additional cost? Is your dealer being charged the retail price??

And since My Traihawk has the same engine, but a year newer... Any info as to why your water pump failed so soon?

Why did the blown head gasket destroy the head itself?

And didn't you get a high engine temperature warning...?

No explanation on the failure. The overheating I'm sure warped the head. I wasn't sure why they couldn't mill it, but information hasn't been very forthcoming. I personally feel if the diagnosis had been done correctly in first place, it wouldn't had resulted in a blow head gasket/cylinder head.

In both case the the dash lit up notifying me the vehicle was overheating and went into limp mod.

I just talked with a former VW technician at the trusted indy shop where I now take all our vehicles (except for warranty or recall work).

He said that, contrary to what I'd thought, dealers are very reluctant to do dealer transfers of parts from other dealers. Certainly not giving discounts for doing so.

So that would explain why it was so tough to get the dealer in danebergman's case to get th cylinder head from that other dealer... Until apparently Jeep made them do it (and probably paid the premium)...

Any update? Has the dealer received the new head yet?

You mentioned in another thread that you had suggested a new engine instead, since they apparently couldn't find a head. I'd prefer just a head swap. I've heard of some issues when an entire engine is replaced...

Still no cylinder head. FCA just keeps saying the parts team is working on it with no ETA. The service writer updates me, but it’s always the same story. How are so many parts on national backorder
The only reason I got any traction is my Service writer applied pressure to the local Jeep Service Rep. The Rep finally authorized covering the additional cost. There were at least 9 cylinder heads on national backorder. FCA (Jeep Cares) was being no help.

Wait... You're waiting on a cylinder head too? I don't see any posts from you regarding that...

One problem is, I think, that the 1.3T engine is very rare in the U.S. It's only been supplied in Renegades later in the model history, and I don't think there are any other vehicle here with that engine. I may be wrong about that; but it's certainly not common.

Not an excuse, but maybe a reason...

Yep. No aftermarket options for the oil filter. MOPAR only. At least air filters are available.

Well there is this for $5.28 -- if you trust it: Amazon.com: ECOGARD X11834 Premium Spin-On Engine Oil Filter for Synthetic Oil Fits Jeep Renegade 1.3L 2019-2021 | Fiat 500X 1.3L 2019-2020 : Automotive

But Mopar oil filters are available from Amazon for $26.26...

The Mopar filters from dealers list for $16.65, but are available for less -- like $11.90: Search Results | My Mopar Parts

I'm willing to pay that price.

At least air filters are available.
Yup. They used to be crazy expensive, and only available from Jeep (the replaceable ones); so much so that I was ordering in multiples from the UK.

But now they seem to have come down in price -- list $25.00, available for $17.85: 2019-2025 MOPAR Air Filter 68377763AA | My Mopar Parts

I can live with that.

Well the dealer notified me of the following.-

"Moparparts cancelled the order without telling us. It was reordered and we have a new tracking number and it's coming from Sherwood CA and says it will be at the Dodge store hopefully by Friday..

"My parts advisor had to call them because he was tracking it to be here sooner than this and they said it was a clerical error."

Jeep/FCA seriously needs to get it together.

So the dealer had said previously they felt the repair would be done by the end of this week.
Update I got today said- "new cylinder head did not come with the dowels installed and new head bolts. They were ordered a few days ago and are due to arrive this upcoming Tuesday."

Well, at least the new head is there.

Unless the dealer sells it to someone else in the meantime...

By the way, I had a nice talk with the parts guy at my Jeep dealer last week. He said that it's completely up to the parts managers at different dealers, and the personal relationships they've got with one another, as to whether they'll do an inter-dealer transfer.

Particularly challenging if the part is in short supply...

Still do not have my Renegade back. Contacted dealer and Jeepcares again. waiting for a update. Last update I have was the 7th. Oh well.
Well, the Head Bolts (10 of them?) are available for $7.25 each: 2019-2023 Mopar Cylinder Head Bolt 68440264AA | My Mopar Parts

And the Dowel Pins (don't know how many) are $0.26 each: 2019-2025 Mopar Dowel Pin 68297478AA | My Mopar Parts

I'd be tempted to just order them myself, and ceremoniously hand them to the dealer...

Oh, and the Cylinder Head seems to be available now too... 2019-2024 Mopar Cylinder Head 68708207AA | My Mopar Parts
