What made you go with the infinity reference? I'm thinking about changing mine out as well. Did you use bass blockers with them? I've been researching and lots of people seem to be changing the dash speakers out. Sounds like it's worth it. Is it just a matter of getting crisper highs with the upgrade? Did you need to turn the treble down after changing out? Thanks!
I went with infinity only because I've had good experiences in the past. I'm not enough of an audiophile to compare kicker to Polk to infinity. Haha.

Changing out the dash was worth it as I think that's one key place - because of the way the system is balanced - that the weaknesses of the stock speakers show. Most of the sound you hear when driving is r dash speakers bouncing off the windshield so improving those is an easily noticeable gain.

I did not use any bass blockers as I think the AMP is already tuning for certain frequencies, if it's not, then I have not noticed a negative side-effect of not using them. Most noticeable with dash speaker replacement is probably brightness and clarity.. for me anyway... a high-hat cymbal sounds like one, the sound from the dash has good defenition now, crisper and more clear than with OEM. It's a 10min job to replace if you have the ratcheting torx tool (several inexpensive options mentioned earlier in this thread)

I've made some adjustment to the basic equalizer, but I do that often anyway as I listen to a lot of different types of music so adjustment was always something I did.

Hi - I have a 2017 TH with Beats and am also disappointed with the sound. Very little bass and tinny like a transistor radio. I read 16 pages of complaints and possible TSB fixes on this forum; however, the 2017 was not included on any TSB that I found. The two that have promise are TSB 08-065-16 and TSB 08--065-16 REV A. Anyone know of a fix for the 2017?

Chicago dealer mechanics are on strike right now so I didn't get much help at my dealer.
Thanks - Steve

I thought this was worked out for late year 2016 and up? I have a 2016 and when streaming from my phone or playing HD radio, I think the sound quality is pretty good. The bass seems to come alive the most when I have the volume to atleast 22ish +. I can definitely make my rear view mirror shake. The satellite radio/FM are just fair for most stations. I wish the bass could go deeper but it's loud and clean sounding to me!

Check your vehicle's build date (on one of the labels, probably in door jamb). If it's after mid-to-late 2016 then your audio system should already be at the correct level and you won't need the AMP software update.

My build date is 11/16. Sound is as disappointing as many previously described. At 32 there is some decent bass but the midrange and treble are out of a comfortable listening volume. Even at 32+ the mirror doesn't vibrate much if at all. I am hoping that there is a Jeep solution like a TSB. If not then I will install a powered subwoofer which is a double shame as Beats is supposed to have 405 watts and a subwoofer AND the powered subwoofer will reduce some of the limited cargo space. Anyone know of a TSB for the 2017 Beats?

Sounds to me like you just need an update. The volume at 32 would normally be way too loud. My build date is 9/16 and it was OK from day 1. I don't know the link but you can enter your VIN to see if there is a uconnect update. Try that or call Jeep and give the VIN to them.

Beats isn't the best but it's better than most factory systems, IMO. It should sound good.

2016 & 2017

I bought a TH 2016 brand new last year. It did not have Beats audio. I thought the sound was pretty good. Never really gave it much thought because the sound was pretty full and the bass was good. Then last month I traded that in for a new 2017 TH with Beats. I didn't even realize it had Beats audio until I was ready to drive it off the lot. So I get in the car and start driving and of course turn on the SiriusXM. Horrible. Switch to FM with HD. Pretty bad too but better. I understand that Sirius streaming from the sat strips off some sound quality but wow. The Beats Audio is horrible. I played with every setting (3) and no dice. Yesterday I took in my 17 TH for an oil change and asked them to apply any updates. I specifically told them about the audio and asked if there were any updates to fix the audio. They said there were none. If you are looking at the TH's and Beats is an option - don't pay for it. Or, at the very least compare one with and one without. Listen to SiriusXM, FM, bluetooth, or direct plug with the stereo cable. See for youself at least before you buy. If I could do it again I would have looked for a new Rene w/o the Beats.

I can't recall hearing ANY standard equipment factory stereo in a vehicle in the Renegade price range that sounds better than the Beats. While it's "premium" name tag is debatable, it's definitely an upgrade over the 4/6 speaker systems. Something is wrong with yours.

Provided JEEP WAVE PREMIUM CARE with my complaint about poor Beats sound. The representative had no solutions for me. Went to a dealer away from Chicago who did have mechanics that were not on strike. Manager looked at the two TSBs (TSB 08-065-16 and TSB 08--065-16 REV A) for older models. He did find a May 10, 2017 update (TSB 08-036-17 Electrical) Subject RA4 RG4 RJ4 Radio Enhancements - vehicles built on or before April 04, 2017. No guarantee that this TSB has anything to do with sound because the symptom/conditions listed are GPS issues. Some Chicago dealer mechanics returned to work today so will check this update out.
I have purchased a powered subwoofer and will install soon. Really like the Renegade but do not understand how the sound can be so poor.

I'm the new owner of a used 2016 75th Anniversary Latitude with Beats Audio and one of my first impressions of this car during the test drive was that not all of the speakers were working. I had to adjust fader and balance to try and get some sort of clarity. Same symptoms as mentioned by others: no volume until 10 or more, rear speakers and sub have faint to no sound when faded to the rear, almost maxing the volume at 32-34 to try and enjoy songs on the radio (a little less when using my iPhone at max volume). Made an appointment for some service work at my local dealer and had them check out the audio. I specifically mentioned the TSB 08-065-16, but the service techs determined it to be the amplifier. Since the vehicle only has 19000 miles, they covered the replacement amp under the basic bumper to bumper warranty. The sound system is tremendously better--while it's not spectacular compared to other premium audio systems I've owned, it's much better sounding than before. My advice is to make the dealer fix it if it's still under warranty by performing the amp update or replacement--It's definitely worth it.

I went through the exact same thing when I first got my 2016 Latitude. No sound until at least 10 and almost zero sound from the rear. Compared to one without Beats Audio it was bad.

My dealer did the software update and when this didn't work they replaced my amp. This system is still not the best but is way improved over what it was. Glad to hear you got yours worked out.

So, I just started the shipping process on a 75th with beats. I have read through some of this thread before, and figured to not give my hopes up. But, has anybody tried upgrading any of the other speakers besides the sub? I really was just hoping for a sound system with a pre installed amplifier. I would eventually want to put in some polk audio speakers anyways, but power them with the beats amp. Thoughts?

I have replaced the dash speakers with Kickers, and the front door speakers with JBL.

Not much improvement.

The system is a bad design and bought the rights to use the Beats name to sell it.

My next move is to by a DSP and add a 5 channel amp. I will then run everything off of that and have real RMS power.

Good to know. I'll probably go a similar route eventually. At that point, i will have to consider a change out of the unconnect head unit too, and all the problems that come with its integration to car settings.

I decided to change out my factory dash speakers for Pioneer TS-A878. I never had a problem with the Beats but just looking for improvement. Definitely worth $50 (speakers & wire adapters) and less than 10 minutes to install. Just cleaner, more crisp sound. I've also moved the speed sensitive volume to 3 instead of my usual 2 setting. I've had to turn down the bass a little but that has also improved the sound. Obviously louder but the system just seems more powerful on the 3 setting.

Some factory setups sound good. I am still happy with my Beats system. Later on I will be upgrading the speaker and add some tweeters to make the sound more crisp and give a little solid punch. I was looking at and actually auditioned a set of Focal brand speakers at a car audio place and I was impressed. All the speakers, amps will be replaced and crossovers installed for around $2100 dolllars. I said "wait a minute" I'll beat up the Beats to death then I'll upgrade. So far the Beats are still working and sounding good so maybe I'll just add some tweeters for now.

Don't forget our mission: Keep Tony in retirement or on permanent vacation.

So, now that we all realize that Jeep sold us a BEAT sound system (or rather BEAT us out of $700) what are we going to do? I am not ready to just lay down and change out my own system, they lied, mislead and denied about the issue. Just Empty Every Pocket has me really wound up. I feel I have been robbed of $695, and I want compensation.
