I have been having multiple issues and I'm not even sure where to start or what it could be. The first thing happened last year around winter time. I was leaving work and decided I didn't want to warm up my car so I just got in it and drove off like I would normally do. As soon as I turned a corner and hit the brakes it just died. like it was no longer getting any gas? I had to have it towed. When I got it home my husband tried to start it while also pumping the gas pump and he got it to start. I was able to at least deduce that the only time the issue occurs is if it's cold outside and I don't let it warm up. If I let it warm up for at least 10 minutes I have zero issues. no clue why though.
Second issue that i didn't notice till it started getting cold out. If it's cold outside i cannot put my heat on the highest setting or it will start to blow cold air. This was not an issue last winter but seems to be one this year.
Third issue that has only happened twice so far. I'm driving business as usual and the "service transmission" light came on. my car didn't drive any differently. i stopped at a gas station turned it off & back on and the warning went away. also no clue.
Fourth issue my 4WD dial isn't doing anything. so if I press the 4 Lock button it doesn't light up. if I try to switch the setting to snow, mud, rock etc. it doesn't light up those individual lights. i have had this car for all of two years and I am at a loss with what to do. i am not car savvy nor is my husband and it's hard to find a mechanic that isn't going to try to rake me over the coals. i do love this car other than these issues.

Welcome!

Well, what rsranges implied would be a great place to start.

I'm not sure why he suggested checking the oil level. But "get[ting] it changed regularly" doesn't say much about how often you get it changed, or what the level is. Have you (or your husband) checked the dipstick yourselves?

Second, seeing as you've got a 2015 Trailhawk with 162K miles on it, and it still has the original battery, no matter what else is wrong, that battery almost-certainly needs to be replaced. I'd bet that would solve at least some of your issues. With the electronics on these things, you need to start thinking about a new battery after three years. And it really sounds like a lot of your issues are electronics-related...

Anyway, a new battery would be a great place to start. 👍

Would certainly be good to have the battery load tested (not just the voltage), as Ops suggested; but that's a really old battery...

The oil level thing... I'm not the one who knows the details, but there are reports of engines stalling if the oil level is too low. It has to do with the engine oil used to control valve timing. And some of these 2.4 engines can't make the distance between oil changes before they lose too much oil.

You appear to have icing of your vehicle's fluids; somehow moisture is getting into them. Change all fluids and use deicer in your gas.

Check your oil, these jeeps have a safety feature if your oil gets below 3 qts it'll stop the engine, as for the other stuff idk

Issues with mine to like the need a new thermostat code. Started 2 years ago once it got cold the first time. Ran close and got air intake sensor. Dealer code said thermostat. Mechanically, heats and cools just fine. The sensor can get bumped and give bad air temp which makes the vehicle think it isn't heating up quick enough . Yes, batteries die. Test may show good bit you may have a bad cell. Mine tested good but turned out not to be. One thing you can do is reset your codes or clear the codes by taking off the neg terminal for a bit. Some service codes will put jeep in limp mode so no 4x4. I disconnect battery and it goes away. It pays to have a dealer make sure you have all the updated data and let then check a get codes out and run some diagnostics.

So a couple things! I have a renegade but I ve noticed very similar issues:

1. if any kind of check engine or service light of any kind is lit up you may notice both remote starter and 4 wheel drive won’t work.

2. when it get cold, all of a sudden it’s nearly impossible to pump gas. The only way I can explain it is, it acts exactly how it would when you are standing at pump holding the handle and it’s just passes full and handle keeps stopping when you are just trying to get last 13 cents in lo. it keeps stopping and I have to gently hold the handle lever right in the middle where it’s pumping slow any faster it clicks off like it’s full EVEN when it’s empty.
There is no leak in gas line. I should also mention I don’t have the regular gas cap it’s attached to door. After cleaning cap off it stops and goes back to normal.
This only happens when it’s cold. I have 2016 Jeep renegade but sounds like similar issues.
There is currently a recall that sounds like it could potentially fix this issue. Fingers crossed!
