Hello, Fellow Renegades,

I have a 2017 DH that sat on the lot for 160 days before I bought it. Love the vehicle. The radio locked on me a few times where I had to restart the vehicle to get it back. Not a big deal since the radio is a computer everyone knows how often those need to be rebooted. For giggles I informed the dealer while I was in for an oil change and they ended up ordering a new head unit. I originally requested a software update as I'm sure that there was one out there and most likely would have fixed it. However, I am not going to complain about free parts.

When I got back into the vehicle first thing I noticed was that bass was about 2X better than before (9 speaker Beats). I know there was a TSB around for the stereo, but with a build date of 12/16 I figured I already had the update. Guess there is some secret sauce in the new software. I didn't notice anything visually different with the new software, in-case you were going to ask.

Moral of the story: If you're under warranty say the radio locks up occasionally and you'll get a new unit with better software and most llikely newer maps... For free...

Old Unit:
Software Version:
- 16.24.31
NaviServer:
- 9.10.32.629384
Map Database:
- CMCN4VP4NA;HMNA2014Q4;20151118

New Unit:
Software Version:
- 17.07.46
NaviServer:
- 9.10.32.683155
Map Database:
- CMCN4VP4NA;HMNA2015Q2;20160218
Map Setup:
- KHZ3-PP0Y-7E8X-MLNW-8XGV-LL

Also want to request people post with their current software versions so others can keep track of what the most recent version is floating around out there. Make sure to post where you live too as I'm sure it is different per region/country. Also when/if you had your software updated any time via dealer or OTA.

Good luck everyone!

I have a 2016 Latitude with the 6.5 inch screen.

Software Version:
16.45.47
NaviServer:
9.10.32.655445
Map Database:
CMCN4VP4NA;HMNA2015Q2;20160218
Map Setup:
44ZY-8WD9-ETYP-7BHP-9YTZ-LD

Oddly when I enter my VIN into the website https://www.driveuconnect.com/support/software-update.html it tells me I have the most up to date software. Maybe because mine is a 2016?

Has any members updated the software/maps on their Uconnect 6.5 in the UK and required the 4 digit anti-theft code? I did not receive a 'Uconnect passport' envelope with the code from the dealer. I may have to contact Fiat direct quoting VIN and Uconnect serial number which may require partial removal to view the top of the head unit. If there is any other way of retrieving the serial number without removal it would be appreciated. My system has an update available after inputting the VIN at

https://www.driveuconnect.com/support/software-update/ready-to update.html#tutorial,

but I am wary to proceed without the code.

I've never seen any reference to a code. Where have you seen that?
Nowadays the units are usually keyed to the vehicle rather than having a PIN.

Also that link appears to be American; European cars will have a different unit and possibly a different process. Shortly after I got mine and connected it to the outside world via my phone it decided to update itself ... a few minutes after leaving home (I think it must have downloaded the update over the Wi-Fi while I was still on the drive with the engine running). As I was driving I couldn't really tell what it was updating - and I was cursing as I needed the nav :(
If you have it paired to your phone uconnect and account it might be worth seeing if it will auto-update that way. (The VIN check in that link says mine is up to date.)

Right, I am well confused now (so, what's new!?) .

My (or perhaps my Jeep's) head unit reports
Software version: 16.10.35

When I put the VIN into the web interface I get the available version to be:
16.05.32

The newest version I have seen mentioned on the various fora is 17.07.46 - this could be for a different 6.5 unit, of course.

The sad facts are that my radio behaves erratically, with no DAB or FM stations, phone 'disappearing', Apps/uConnect timing-out or greyed-out and a few other odd symptoms with no clear pattern to this behaviour. After power-cycling things got 'normal' for a bit, then reverted to odd.

I then restarted the radio from the 'engineering menu' (Radio+Media+right knob for 30 sec) and things improved, with a slightly different look. So far it is OK, but I am not too confident.

I called the dealer, they said that beased on my description they would update the software and possibly change the unit. I now have an appointment in a couple of weeks. I shall report what happens (if anyone is interested of course), but I would like to hear whether there are others with similar experiences and what happened, whether the issues have been resolved.

Perhaps I should add that the Jeep is a 2016 Renegade Limited with a 6.5 head unit. I bought it just a few weeks ago at a discount since the dealers have the 2017 reg and model now. I am completely new to Jeeps, having driven sensible VWs for many years, and I really like the Renegade experience.

All the best,
TC

Which unit is yours? Does it definitely have the Apps button (newer version) or More (older) as obviously that will affect which software it uses.

I've seen other posts/threads here where people have had these sorts of issues and the dealer has replaced the unit eventually, so that may well be what happens with yours.

The update for my Renny 2015 is

Update 1:
UCONNECT®6.5 ECE RG4 16.05.32 MY15~16 BU(520)
SERVICE BULLETIN ID: 08-033-16 REV. C
RELEASE DATE: 2016-03-02

Contacted FCA today regarding obtaining the 4 digit ant-theft code and they told me to contact the dealer. Now awaiting a 2nd call back after the 1st didn't materialise!

Many thanks Deek and Nev - same version.

Mike: it is the unit with Apps button - thanks for clarifying this for me, I was confused (what new!?) with some of the instructions/suggestions on the forum, now much clearer.

Also, I have not seen the code request.

And yes, the unit seems to have a life of its own, slightly worryingly, it does feel like some of the erratic behaviour is due to its attempts to update itself as I drive. This is clearly not the best idea but it could explain why a reboot may be clearing some of erratic behaviour.

Finally (for today, he adds pessimistically) the unit seems to be reverting to its evil ways a day after reboot; it now cannot see the USB stick with music, which was fine yesterday.

All the best
(and thanks for all the feedback),
TC
