New guy here, I have an early 2016 Renegade with a blown engine. When I search for used engine options I find they all call out the 8th character in the VIN as "B" and mine is a "T" are there major differences between the two or are they interchangeable?

Welcome!

Well, I see that digits 4 through 8 in a VIN are the "Vehicle Description Section (VDS)," which describes the vehicle's "model, body type, restraint system, transmission type, and engine code."

Nothing further. It specifically doesn't say, if different digits mean specific things, which digit means what...

I'd think the model, body type, and restraint system should be the same with all Renegades. Only transmission type and engine code would vary.

For what it's worth, the 4th through 8th digits of my 2021 Trailhawk (1.3T engine and 9sp auto transmission) is NJDC1.

Just to check, are they Renegade 2.4s or Dodge Darts and others? That might explain it.
These post breaks down the VINs for Renegades, prob won't help, but I don't see a B for an engine code. I'd stay away from B unless, maybe, it came out of a Renegade.
