I just installed the XTRONS IEP92RGJ 9" Android 14 replacement for the virtually worthless UConnect Head Unit. The install went almost without a hitch, but everything is working great, I did make some changes to the stock install though.
- GPS: I ordered a Fakra C Plug to SMA Plug Male Car GPS Antenna Cable (link in comments) to connect the OEM GPS antenna rather than the one included with the XTRONS. I did have to snip off a key tab on the male connector to get it to fit the OEM female connector.
- Microphone: XTRONS expects you to rely on the built-in mic or use one of their external mic options ($). I found the pinout of the Head Unit Connector (link in comments) and determined that pins 29 (black) and 30 (grey) are the lines to the OEM Mic. I patched a 3.5mm Male Plug Jack Connector (link in comments) to those wires and plugged it into the Mic connector on the XTRONS' harness.
- USB: The XTRONS included 2 adapters to connect the the front panel USB port. One with 4 pins and another with 6 pins. The 4 pin adapter is the one for the front panel USB port. The frame of the connector needs to be modified as demonstrated in various YouTube videos. The 6 pin connector can be used for the included 2 USB port extension cable. This is rather easy to route to the Glove Box for access.
