Not sure where the part number might be! (without taking it apart)
Sorry for the delay. Visually checking the lid it doesn’t have any visible catch, so I guess the lock engages in the same pin that the push to release mechanism uses.

to ensure you guys I’m not crazy, here’s a quick video

Justin! You are the best. Thanks for the video

Hey! googling it I think I found it.
It’s part number 51964194.
checking the images I found online, it all comes as a single unit, look at the electrical connection and a manual pull which is accesible from inside the trunk in case the electric latch fails.

Outstanding work! I never really needed the locking version but the fact you found the right part makes me want to jump on the project.

@babelhoo. Whilst fuelling up yesterday and just to make sure I wasn't kidding myself that my Jeep has a locking fuel cap I locked the Jeep. Pressing the fuel cap would not open it. 100% locked. :p:D

Fortunately you have been beaten me to making a short video therefore many thanks for that (y)(y)(y)

Oh and in case no one has tried to open the fuel flap from inside the Jeeps boot it certainly works. There was a topic last year on that and I tried it. Works a treat :D:D:D

What a great group of Jeepers!!!!!! All this work paid off, and I'm glad I'm not the only person looking for this solution. :) Lets start to transition this topic into actually fixing it...should anyone venture in to the actual application of the solution.... keep us posted..... woohoo !!!!

Just another note as to why these forums are so valuable.... The part number you found is on a Brazilian site. Understand, that I only turned to the forum after hours of searching, finding nothing tangibly certain, as far as a possible replacement. These images never came up for...but thanks to your help we are moving in the right direction.... :cool:THANKS A MILLION!!!!!!

UPDATE:
Doing an online search I realized (what was right in front of me); specifically the bottom more familiar part number 68255556AA. Doing a search with this part number reveals:
2396350538
a part replacement. You think Jeep replaced it for some reason???? It seems that the newer part has no electric switch/actuator? So the replacement part is that part, that is actually on my vehicle.

You think something happened that we don't know about and the engineers changed it... Could be a fire hazard. But then again....how many cars are there out there that have locking fuel caps...its not rocket science, just a safely sealed application.

PS In my specific case, there is an entire new level...with the whole Adblue thing and the clip in the original pics... nobody has that except me it seems...

For a possible solution (for me): I would buy the part that @babelhoo has and try to replace his actuator with mine... they look almost the same.....

Glad I was able to help. It’s true that I only see stock in Brazilian sites. I found links for that part number elsewhere, but without stock.
Not sure why some Renegades come with it in some markets and not in others. As said, not sure all Latin Renegades made in Brazil have the same equipment in all available countries (that would be from Argentina to Mexico), but all the versions sold here in Argentina have this feature, even the cheapest FWD version.
You could check with some of the Brazilian vendors if they ship abroad.

I think the North American models don’t have it since they claim the capless system is a deterrent enough. Still not sure on then why some models have a lock and some don’t.

I tried googling it in Italian and Spanish, and some results appeared in Ebay Europe (Spain in these examples), the lock connector plug is clearly visible in the 4th image. Oddly, it seems to have yet a different part number!

In this other listing the plug is visible in the 2nd image.
